For the sin of vows, children die: Ketuvot 72a

Vowing is like building a personal altar [an act which is forbidden], and keeping the vow [rather than having it annulled] is like bringing a sacrifice on that altar: Yevamot 109b; Nedarim 22a

One who vows is fit to be stabbed, but the sages' mouths [in rescinding the vow] can heal him: Eruvin 64b
