Biblical source for the laws of pigul: Zevachim 28a-29a, 44a
A thought is only effective in rendering an item pigul if the thought takes place during the service of the item's matir - the service which, if performed correctly, permits that item to be used: Zevachim 42b-43b
The key thought, for general disqualifications or for pigul, is that of the person performing the service, not that of the owner of the korban: Zevachim 46b, 47a

Regarding intent for the right owner and korban-type, as well as regarding pigul, do we assume that the thought employed in the start of the service is what continued through the end; and what happens if he ceased to express it, and if he then expressed it anew in a still-later service, and if he expressed it in three earlier services but not in the fourth: Zevachim 2b, 41b-42b
